Health and Safety

Throughout the camper's stay at Mi-A-Kon-Da, they should feel safe in knowing that 24-hours-a-day medical support is always there for them. A registered nurse is available at all times, living at the camp Health Centre. The new Parry Sound Hospital, located within 30 minutes of the Camp, provides state-of-the-art technology and medical support in the event that a visit is required. Any required medications that campers bring with them will be administered and supervised by the Camp nurse. They ensure that the health needs of every child are met throughout their stay.

The majority of our staff members are certified in Standard First Aid and all staff are equipped with the knowledge for emergency procedures in order to effectively handle any situation related to camp. Swim staff have NLS (National Lifeguard) and Swimming Instructor qualifications as well as Standard First Aid training. All activities are supervised by specialist instructors and trained staff.

Healthy and nutritious meals are served to campers by our kitchen staff, as well as providing energizing snacks during the programs. Our camp has a "no nut" policy.

Mi-A-Kon-Da consistently meets and exceeds the health standards as established by the Ontario Camping Association, as well as those set through the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment.

Water Supply

The water supply used by the camp is pumped daily into towers from Lake Wah Wash Kesh - known as an incredibly clean lake. All water that is drawn from the lake is tested and goes through a detailed filtration and chlorination process that consistently meets or exceeds Ministry of Health and Ministry of Environment standards.
