Canoe TrippingThe opportunity for an overnight or extended canoe trip is given to all campers and offers them a great opportunity to experience life in the outdoors and a way to learn about the environment that surrounds them. The camp tripping program uses over 14 specialized tripping canoes made out of strong, but lightweight Kevlar or fiberglass material which, along with other camping equipment, ensures that each camping trip is well equipped. Our trained and experienced tripping staff will ensure that all canoe trips are safe and enjoyable for all participants. Campers from 7-10 years old receive their first introduction to tripping on an overnight canoe trip, campers 11 years and older choose their desired tripping experience, anywhere up to a 6 day canoe trip. The location of Mi-A-Kon-Da provides ideal and convenient access to many historic canoe routes such as the French River, Magnetawan River and Algonquin Park. Each trip is selected based on camper choice, length of stay and canoe tripping experience. Through canoe tripping, campers develop leadership and receive instruction in areas such as campsite setup, food preparation and respect for the outdoors. The lakes and rivers of the rugged Canadian Shield provide an outdoor classroom where these future leaders practice their skills and develop memories that will last a lifetime. The Mi-A-Kon-Da Canoe Tripping program adheres to a 'No Trace Camping' policy.
